“The Festival Heist” is the third film in the “Alan and Frank” improv series starring Douglas and Brian. The Alan and Frank series arouse quite accidentally, as an Oroborus of Charlatan Studios real struggles and film pursuits. Director Douglas Lamore and producer Brian Harrison Mack shot the first episode on the fly, all improv, doubling as talent and crew outside 7–11. The comic duo soon became a vehicle to vent their real frustrations with the film industry, Doug and Brian always staying one step ahead of Alan & Frank’s often criminal desperation.
“The Festival Heist” was shot on-location during the 2009 Palm Springs Shortfest (during the screening of Charlatan Studios’ award winning film “Marry, Fuck, Kill”). The festival staff enjoyed the parody so much, they made a special request to screen the film at the 2010 festival.
